Happy Dogs Make for a Great Play & Daycare Experience
At Happy Hound, pets are interviewed to make sure they are friendly and will
work well in a social environment. To be sure that our boarding
guests will be a great fit here and to ensure a comfortable stay, we require
all of our boarders to have a minimum of three visits of daycare prior to
boarding. Depending on the assessment outcome, we may require more than the
minimum. This will be discussed during the initial interview.
What to expect for you and your pooch on your first visit to Happy Hound
Play & Daycare
When you and your companion enter into our Oakland Dog facility, don't be surprised if
you're both a bit excited. The pooch might be a bit surprised to find
between 80-100 dogs in our play groups, divided up between smaller rooms,
and you might find that your loyal companion is shaking with excitement at
the possibility of being in the rooms with the group. Sometimes our parents
may feel that the shaking is fear or nervousness, but take our doggy-clients
word, it is excitement! For they have just entered Doggy Daycare - the
Disneyland of dog entertainment!
With the entrance you might also experience a high level of dog
communication within our facility. When you come in our dogs might be very
pleased to see you both - that means you might hear a small amount of
barking. Your pooch and you should just come on in and visit our reception
area; we'll direct you both from there.
At that point, we'll want to be sure that all your interview packet
paperwork is complete and that you have your vaccination records with you.
The Assessment takes about 40 minutes where we will interview the both of
you to ensure that your companion is well suited for our environment.
Before visiting us, you might want to see the action by watching our two videos: Introduction to Happy Hound and Happy Hound Client Testimonials.
Otherwise, hold on tight, the adventure is about to begin.
Here are the requirements we will be looking for when enrolling new playmates.
Age:
All dogs enrolled in basic daycare must be at least four months of age or older. Puppies in the Play Pen Program must be at least 8 weeks old.
Sex:
All dogs must be spayed and neutered when enrolling in basic daycare (except puppies under six months who are enrolled in – or have completed – the Play Pen Program). No exceptions.
Canine Vaccinations:
Owners will be required to provide proof of current vaccinations (bordetella, rabies and DHLPP vaccinations). Flea and heartworm preventives are encouraged but not required; this should be discussed with your veterinarian. We also support and encourage Titters blood test for all dogs as an alternative to proof of vaccinations.
Pet Health:
All dogs must be in good health; owners will certify their dog(s) are in good health and have not been ill with a communicable disease within the last 30 days. Upon enrollment, all dogs must be free from any condition which could potentially jeopardize the health or safely of other clients. Dogs who have been ill with a communicable disease in the last 30 days will require a veterinarian’s certification of health to be admitted or re-admitted.
Dog Behavior:
All dogs must be non-aggressive and not food or toy protective. Owners will certify that their dogs have not harmed or shown any aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person and/or other dog(s). Please remember your dog(s) will be spending time with other dogs, and the safety, health and enjoyment of all clients is our primary concern. |
